Full Description
  • Cote How specialises in smaller more intimate celebrations of all kinds. Exclusive use of our historical 16th century venue also includes our wedding and party barn, four acres of grounds, with an adjacent field down to the lake shore of Rydal Water, the Bluebell woods and the River Rothay. A picturesque wooden footbridge leads to Rydal church just 200m away. There are few Lakeland venues with such a picture perfect location for your wedding or special occasion. Cote How is a family run business with resident-owner Caroline Langham at the helm. With more than 30 years' experience in the wedding and hospitality business, you are assured of the best possible service, with attention to detail and expert planning. Your special occasion is individually designed to suit your own unique style. No two celebrations are ever the same! Traditional Weddings - Choose form the house Fairfield room with it's oversized gilt mirror and crystal chandeliers or in the historic and rustic barn, where you have the option of having your wedding indoors or out (weather dependant). Barn Weddings - As one of only two licensed barns in the Lake District, our 16th century barn is unique, romantic and approved for civil ceremonies. So, you can now get married under the eaves of the barn with your congregation inside, or outside with spectacular views of the surrounding fells. Humanist Weddings - If you wish to have a humanist wedding, simple blessing or renewal of vows, we have a wonderful open lawn surrounded by stunning Lakeland views where we can set up your ceremony with live entertainment, seating and flower arch etc. Equal Weddings - Cote How is delighted to offer marriage ceremonies to same sex couples and is one of the premier destinations for equal weddings in the Lake District. Civil partnerships are, of course, available and the choice is yours, as a same sex couple, to choose either marriage or civil partnership.

Ask a question
Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
So hard to choose one - They all vary so much. The full hog roast wedding last September in full sunshine with the ceremony for 80 people outside the barn, then a relaxed party and hog roast in the barn into the evening!
What’s your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Take your time, pre plan your dream wedding then try to find a venue that can offer you that. You need to trust your venue provider, and they need to listen to you and offer flexibility.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One couple requested that each guest provide a photo of themselves as a baby. These were distributed to all guests who then had the task of finding their owner. That guest then wrote a wedding message on the back and hung it on the photo peg line in the gazebo for all to see! It was an amazing ice breaker and great fun!
Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.
Unique, intimate, exclusive, stunning, flexible
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
In the flower meadow looking towards the lake or back to the house - Stunning skies and lake fells all around.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
A few secret ones!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Beef and horseradish on mini Yorkshire puddings
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Cheese and homemade biscuits

The C16th Barn and spinning gallery on the house
