We first saw Dorton House in January 2017 and we instantly fell in love with the venue. We were looking for a venue that had vintage charm, enough space for guests to wander away from the busy areas when needed, and most importantly, something that reflected us as a couple. Dorton House exceeded our expectations from the beginning, mainly down to the beautiful venue and the event manager, Jamie. Jamie met us at the venue and from the first meeting was available to answer all of our queries, no matter how small, with patience and kindness.
There are too many highlights of the day to list every one, but the below are a few bits of feedback from not only ourselves (the bride and groom) but also our guests;
Dorton House itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty of photo-worthy opportunities both in the house and grounds. It is a private hire venue, so there is no potential that strangers could walk into your wedding photos. Also, the areas for the day are large enough to have different areas of circulation for guests, and this was regularly commented on by our guests that the flow of the space was perfect for aunts and uncles to have a chat at the dinner tables, while work colleagues run the bar dry and kept the dance floor full.
The food - catering by amuse bouche events was fantastic. Every single guest has praised the food, especially the Thai-style duck salad starter, but the chefs went out of their way to make sure that all guests were catered for. Our coeliac guest's meal looked exactly the same as everyone else's - and she was delighted to have a sticky toffee pudding she could eat. Another guest had forgotten to let us know that their partner is vegetarian, and as soon as this came to light Jamie and the team sorted out a vegetarian meal for the guest without any fuss or distraction - we didn't know for weeks!
Jamie has gone beyond expectations and provided us with lots of recommendations that we were able to use - but also not scalded us when we didn't use a preferred photographer or supplier.
