What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Choose your budget and date first, then approach your church or ceremony venue. Once you have these details confirmed, choosing your reception space is so much more enjoyable!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Wildflowers collected from the bride's mum's garden and arranged in vintage teapots and tin cans for a rustic but elegant look

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Enchanting. Intimate. Affordable. Quirky. Approachable.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Brides love to get a photo of their big arrival on the stone stairs which descend into the Dufferin Hall event space. Many couples also take advantage of good weather by having photos shot outside against the iconic yellow walls of the Dufferin Coaching Inn or nearby Killyleagh Castle or Strangford Lough.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Anything created using locally sourced ingredients, from fish caught on Strangford Lough to locally-raised beef, chicken and lamb.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Following the conclusion of the reception, the bride and groom typically slip off of the sitting room in Dufferin Coaching Inn with a few close friends to unwind in front of the fire before retiring for the evening.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The entrance way into Dufferin Hall is well-loved by couples who wish to make an entrance. Many guests also love the adjoining bar which runs parallel to the main hall and is joined with rustic arches and cheerful blue doors. The snug in the bar portion of the space is usually crammed with revellers for the duration of the festivities.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We work directly with our brides and grooms to ensure that they have a fairytale wedding. The wedding party is given access to the venue space a week before the event, which is a huge draw for DIY brides who prefer to decorate themselves but would like to avoid the stressful scenario of decorating the day before the event. Unique touches ensure that the couple has a truly memorable and intimate day surrounded by their loved ones in a laid-back but beautiful environment.
