Matfen Hall is a unique and historic venue set in stunning Northumberland surroundings, as weddings at Matfen are limited to one per day you have the full and undivided attention of our award winning team. Arriving to your private entrance and car park you will be welcomed into the Lobby, before entering the Great Hall, which features an amazing artificial hanging wisteria and lighting feature from the ceiling!
Step down the magnificent Great Hall staircase before taking your vows in front of the large feature fireplace. The Great Hall is the ultimate setting for the most romantic and intimate part of your day.
Our private south facing Dutch Garden makes a beautiful area for a cocktail drinks reception, then venture off into the surrounding woodland and estate, on a more cosy day take your drinks reception in front of the roaring log burning fire in the Great Hall. Our neighbouring village only a short walk away from the East Wing hosts the cosy Holy Trinity Church, originally built by our current owner’s great-grandfather, Sir Edward Blackett, the 6th Baronet who also built Matfen Hall.
The terrace room boasts elegant neutral tones so that you can create any kind of beautiful styling in this room, bespoke gold ring seats and traditional parquet timber flooring complete the timeless setting. The Terrace Room provides a relaxed yet luxurious setting for the wedding breakfast, comfortably seating up to 100 guests, guests are able to take in views across Matfen’s manicured gardens and rolling golf course.
Sir Edward’s Room is a striking space which provides you with your very own decadent bar for their celebrations, offering the perfect break away area for guests to indulge in fine wines or perhaps a vintage whiskey! Having once been the old cellars of Matfen Hall, The Vault Bar is the perfect setting for your guests to dance the night away! The Cloister courtyard can be used throughout various parts of your wedding day a magical festoon lit secret space!
