Full Description
THE VENUE Maunsel House is one of the most romantic wedding venues in England. Owned by Sir Benjamin Slade and famous for being the ultimate ‘party house’ of Somerset the team can help you create a wedding or event truly magical and one to treasure and remember forever. Come and fall in love with what can only be described as the hidden gem of Somerset. THE SETTING Situated amongst 100 acres of stunning gardens, orchards and lakes within 2000 acres of glorious natural beauty you will find Maunsel House nestled away behind a driveway of chestnut trees where resident peacocks freely roam the grounds along with doves, geese, ducks and Shetland ponies too. CEREMONY Maunsel House is licenced for civil ceremonies. Choose from our elegant regency ballroom which seats up to 100 guests, the pretty garden bandstand, or the undercover pergola within the walled garden, alternatively you may wish to marry in our very own candlelit Saxon chapel. Being one of the oldest and smallest chapels in England it is perfect for an intimate wedding seating up to 50 guests. WEDDING BREAKFAST/RECEPTION Wedding breakfasts/receptions can be held in the regency ballroom, or if you prefer a garden style wedding you can choose to dine alfresco under the beautiful rose covered pergola within the walled garden, and as evening falls is lit with twinkling fairy lights along with the glow of our chimineas adding that extra touch of magic to an already atmospheric setting. STAY WITH US Staying at Maunsel House is a truly unique experience, with 17 bedrooms all beautifully decorated within the main house each offering individual character and charm and 5 quaint cottages allows Maunsel House to accommodate up to 66 guests making this the perfect weekend wedding venue. PLAN YOUR WEDDING With a dedicated wedding and events team you can be rest assured that every detail will be covered and cared for, beginning from the initial meeting through to the day of your wedding.

The most amazing day
The team at Maunsel has been absolutely brilliant from the outset from our original pre-Covid plans all the way through to our (twice) replanned mini wedding for 15. We genuinely had the most amazing day and couldn't have asked for anything better. Everything ran so smoothly, the team were wonderful both on the day and the night before. The food was absolutely gorgeous and it felt incredibly special just having our chosen few there. Despite everything going on lately it did not take away from the charm of the house and we are really glad we went through with our mini-mony. Very much looking forward to coming back in 2022 for our bigger, original reception.

We cannot thank you enough!
We cannot thank you enough for the most wonderful weekend we spent with you on Saturday and Sunday, The most interesting building and decor set the atmosphere, but it was yourselves and your staff that really made us feel welcome and comfortable. As we were able touch all the fabulous treasures the party got off to a very excited start. The bedrooms are unbelievably beautiful and made us feel very important and completely spoilt.

Thank you
Can’t stop smiling and can’t say enough about how wonderful Maunsel House is!!! The house and gardens are stunning, the food was delicious but most of all - the team there are absolutely amazing. So flexible, friendly, professional and relaxed, and really made our day so special. Wedding in the garden was beyond perfect but we really liked that the indoor ceremony room was bright and beautiful if it did rain. We feel so lucky to have found this place, will be having anniversaries there in years to come.

Stop considering and just book Maunsel
We held our wedding at Maunsel House on 20th July 2019 and are absolutely blown away with how smoothly the day went. From the second we walked through the front door of Maunsel a year and a half ago, we knew we couldn’t hold our wedding anywhere else. The decor, history, quirkinesses and attention to detail had us captivated from the start and we fell in love. Throughout the whole process of booking our wedding and planning the day, the staff at Maunsel have been incredible. Our extra special thanks go to Charlotte who went above and beyond to help us with decision making and special little touches for our day. Also big thanks to Michaela and Sandra who were so amazing on the day. Running around and helping us with any last minute requests and making sure our guests were all enjoying themselves. We can’t thank you enough. Finally big thanks to Sir Ben for opening your home to us. Every single one of our guests commented on what an amazing place Maunsel is and one of my bridesmaids is even considering it for her own wedding now too! If you’re considering booking a wedding (or any event/stay at Maunsel) then stop considering and just go ahead and book it as I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Somerset Wedding
Had our wedding at Maunsel House this weekend and the venue and staff could not have been better. Nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile to ensure the day was perfect. The setting is beautiful and the house is one of the most fascinating and interesting places around. I would 100% recommend this venue to any couple considering it as a venue for their big day.
