The magnificent Merchant Taylors’ Hall, built in 1415 and nestled within the ancient walls of the City of York, has borne witness to centuries of history and been a place for York’s residents to congregate, feast, make music and make merry for more than 600 years.
One of the Yorkshire Post's 20 most stunningly scenic wedding destinations, the Hall is steeped in tradition, with medieval beams, a roaring fire in cooler months, and a magical atmosphere year-round, offering a romantic and unforgettable venue for your wedding celebrations.
There’s a choice of spaces to accommodate 40 – 120 guests, a lovely garden for photographs, your drinks reception or just to enjoy, and the option of ceremony & reception, or reception-only celebrations. You can use all or some of our event spaces for your wedding - the venue is yours exclusively. All our spaces are flexible so you can lay them out as you’d prefer, and dress them with flowers and decorations to make your special day as unique as you are. Some typical room layouts are shown in our wedding brochure, but we’re always happy to change things to meet your needs wherever possible. If you’d like a helping hand with your ideas we can put you in touch with some amazing suppliers and stylists too!
Our caterers will create a bespoke buffet, set meal or banquet menu of delicious food and fine wines to enhance your special day, and there’s also a fully licensed bar offering real ales, pump beers, spirits and wines.
Our city centre location is ideal, with free on-site parking for the bridal party and much more available only 400 yards away. York train station is just a 15-minute walk, or short taxi journey, for your guests travelling from further afield.
As a registered charity all income we generate from weddings is reinvested in the maintenance of this magnificent Grade 1 listed building, or given in grants to projects involving young people who want to develop their skills in the fields of art, craftsmanship and music.
