The Moot Hall is one of the only places in Maldon currently licensed to hold weddings and civil ceremonies. We are a small venue offering a unique and exclusive experience as we only host 12-18 ceremonies a year. We limit these numbers to protect the delicate nature of the historic Moot Hall. The details below will explain a little more and we would be happy to show you around at a convenient time.
The Moot Hall, a Grade 1 listed building in the centre of Maldon, it has three rooms that are licensed for weddings and other Civil Ceremonies, these are on three floors:
The Committee Room (ground floor - disability access ramp available) with room for a maximum of 40 people with up to 35 seated.
Court Room (first floor) with room for 35 people (30 seated).
Council Chamber (top floor) with room for 35 people (30 seated).
The cost of hire for any room on any day in 2020 is £650 with sole use of the Moot Hall during the time of hire. (2 hours are allocated for a wedding)
The Balcony and Jury Room on First Floor
Overlooking the High Street, the balcony can be used for photos in conjunction with any of the rooms above. A short drinks Reception served in our 17th Century Jury Room can also be arranged at an additional cost of £150 for one hour which would include the cost of staff and glasses, but not the drinks which you would need to supply for the day.
