Meh
Unfortunately our experience with The Barn @ Park House Farms have been anything but pleasant. We were sold by the views of the gorgeous estuary and the possibilities of the empty space indoor/outdoor, even enough to overlook the obvious presence/smell of cow and sheep manure. So after the grand sales pitch by Abigail we organised to start planning our big day! Paying our deposit of £750 We had booked a day well in advance (over a year) so we could start organising and paying for everything else you need for a wedding. And at this point it started to get quite stressful. there was such a delay trying to get any sort contract or even a response from Abigail or Jess. we messaged on every social “the barn at park house farms” was running and emailed continuously and called over and over, nothing! After several weeks of this we were contacted by the council and told that “The Barn at Park house farms” did not have a licence for weddings! and we were to contact them. We explained that we were struggling to get any response from “the barn at park house farms”. This made us feel quite lost and was quite upsetting for us. as we had given close to a months wage with no receipt for it and no way of contacting the people we had given it too. We tried and tried and it got to the point of us contacting citizens advice and starting to look into legal proceedings. While waiting on a response from citizens advice after receiving all our information/evidence. We recieved an email during this point from Jess demanding money for a payment plan that was not organised by us or agreed to, saying that we were behind on payments. Still no contact or contract received! We carried on with the trying to contact them emails, calls, messages. We organised a day off work where we could both travel up to “the Barn at park house farms” in Milnthorpe taking us well over an hour for just the drive itself. We got there mid day and was there for a total of two hours looking for anybody, all the lights in the farm house were on and the guard dog at the back of the farm would bark when it saw us then get shut up by somebody. we walked all over the farm. looking for anyone to help us. getting covered in manure in the process. we were been ignored and hidden from. My partner broke down at this point as the view of the estuary was beautiful with the sun bouncing off it and the realisation that through no fault of our own we wouldn’t be getting married at this location and we had more or less been robbed of money that was not easy for either of us to come by. We contacted the council and explained that we have had no response from “the barn at park house farms” and we’re unable to make any contact and asked if they are able in anyway to make contact with them to please ask them to contact us, as we have been desperately trying to get hold of them. Our next step… legal action. Us not really wanting to do this as neither of us have any experience with solicitors or the legal system, we tried again to contact them and let them know that they had left us no choice and going down the legal route was our only option. As if by magic Jess managed to get this message and responded… finally! We organised a meeting with Jess and Abigail at “the barn at park house farms” in Milnthorpe. We had a meeting with Jess. Abigail wasn’t present and we were told that they had no reason to talk to us, as our wedding wasn’t for over a year away, even though the council had asked them to contact us, we were not important. They agreed to give us our deposit back and they believed they had the money as they had recently sold some cows. Legally your deposit should be held in a separate deposit account not just spent by the company because they are hard up. we had to wait well over 2 months to get our deposit back because they had spent it. Please beware! These people don’t care about your special day. They just want your money and to do as little for it as possible.

Love made this day special
The Cumbrian DIY barn wedding venue located on a working farm. This a very rustic informal venue. The price included barn, bar staff, tables and chairs and glasses. Nothing else is included not even a wedding coordinator for the day? If you would like your wedding coordinating (a must for a wedding) you will have to pay for this service. This venue will need the wedding party to be hands on to create your vision or you will need to hire a venue coordinator or dresser. This is a great venue for making the venue personal and exactly how you vision your day as its a blank rustic working barn. Its a no frills working barn that you can turn in to what you wish as long as you have time, vision and money to create it. If you want a wedding venue where everything is done for you this is not the venue for you. It was good for us and we wanted a relaxed informal party atmosphere to our wedding.

The best venue!
We had an amazing wedding here! We could do anything we wanted with the barn and could decide on any caterers or djs, we found this great as we could have a relaxed chilled out day and not a formal reception. The barn was perfect for a summer wedding and we couldn’t recommend more!

Couldn't have wished for anything better
Park House Barn was the perfect wedding venue for us - as a bride who loves the outdoors (being a horse owner, although the horse was unfortunately not at the wedding), the barn & surroundings were ideal. We loved that we could have any caterer, entertainments, drinks... it was completely personal preference. The staff were so helpful, both during the planning & on the day - they were always there to pick up my essays via email and keeping us calm during the preparations. The fact we got the barn 3 days before the wedding was a definite plus - we had time to enjoy the decorating and get any last minute bits. We honestly couldn't have enjoyed our day more & we had so many lovely comments on the gorgeous venue from our guests, that was just the icing on the cake!
