My fiancée, my mum and I arrived for our appointment for a viewing of the venue. After walking inside, we waited in the entrance hall for a few moments expecting someone to come over to us. Several minutes passed - nothing. So we made our way into the larger room on the left, towards the downstairs function room, we could hear a staff member having a personal(not business related phone call). Again we took a seat here for a few minutes, expecting the staff member to end their phone call and come out to us. Again- nothing. We went into the function room and had a good look around. Then went back and sat down again near to where the staf member was. She then called out to let us know she would come out ina minute. Bear in mind there was 3 of us, chatting, walking around, saying’hello??’ Etc there was no way that she was unaware of our presence
Anyway when she did come out of her store she did not come over to us sitting at the table, she walked past us to stand in the foyer at the bottom of the stairs, and then said hello from there. When we got over to meet her. We were expecting a warm, personal greeting,”You must be the bride, so happy to meet you, congratulations on the engagement etc etc” that we recieved at the other appointments we had attended. Or an apology for making us wait at least 15 minutes. This lady knew all our names yet didn’t use them and didn’t even introduce herself.instead, we got,” this is where the tour starts. Your guests walk in here and are directed upstairs by staff, please follow me”
My partner and I were very interested in having an outdoor ceremony if the weather is good, and had seen the beautiful pictures of the outdoor space here, so we enquired about this when we got upstairs. We were told that the outdoor area was just straight up that path and then shown a large picture on an easel of it set up for wedding . This picture looked like it had been in teenage boys rucksack for weeks, all the corners were completely torn and worn away, far from the quality we expected at this venue, it would have only cost about £15 to get a new one! At this point we actually had to ask if we could go out and have a look at the ceremony space, she unlocks the doors and opened them , but stood back to let us go first, BUT THEN CLOSED THE DOOR ONCE WE HAD WALKED OUT AND WAITED INSIDE.
At this point I asked my partner if we should just leave because I was not impressed. But we stayed to see the rest of the venue.
When we came back inside we continued the tour. On our way back downstairs the lady stepped over a piece of a srumpled up rubbish, which my partner picked up and put in the bin next to us.
Once downstairs in the function room again our guide showed us the bar etc, but all the lights were off in the room. We asked if they could be turned on.so she disappeared for another 10 minutes and returned to let us know that her iPad died and she couldn’t turn the lights on without it.
At the end we asked for their wedding brochure/catalogue, so that we could have something to take home and look through for price etc as this lady couldn’t tell us any specific details whatsoever despite being some sort of assistant manager. So when she returned from‘turning the lights on’ she brought a little folded leaflet with her. That was absolutely 0 help as it was about as specific as she was.
If a staff member can’t be bothered and is this unprepared and unprofessional for a viewing that was arranged in advance how on earth can I trust her to be prepared and professional for my wedding???
Customer service either makes or breaks a business and by the looks of things that lady won’t be getting any new clients anytime soon.
Extremely disappointed in my visit as we travelled over an hour each way to see what we thought would be our perfect venue.....
