The Foundling Museum Full Description
Tucked away in a leafy corner of Bloomsbury and overlooking Brunswick Square, the Foundling Museum is perfect for couples looking for a unique city wedding or civil partnership. Situated within a Grade II-listed, Georgian style building, the Museum will be exclusively yours for your big day. From an intimate civil ceremony to a glamorous reception, the Museum can host ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 100 guests and informal parties for 80 guests. Exchange your vows in the enchanting Court Room, adorned with the finest eighteenth-century Rococo interiors in London. For a grander celebration, the Georgian-style Picture Gallery awaits, nestled under artistic masterpieces. Descend the grand, sweeping staircase as a newly-wed couple and enjoy champagne and canapes across the Museum whilst we transform the space for a romantic wedding reception in one of our historic rooms. Say ‘I do’ on the site of this important historic institution. By choosing us as your venue, you will be making a valuable contribution to the Foundling Museum. As a registered charity, all income from venue hire supports our work with marginalised and vulnerable children. Celebrate your marriage with a night of dancing with a DJ and uplighters in the Study Studio featuring the powerful poem by Lemn Sissay OBE “Superman was a Founding'' which references some of the world’s favourite fictional characters including Harry Potter, Cinderella, Han Solo and many more. The Foundling Museum tells the remarkable story of the Foundling Hospital, established in the 18th century by Thomas Coram to care for children whose parents couldn’t take care of them. The artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frideric Handel played a big part in realising Coram’s vision. Together, they transformed the Hospital into the UK’s first public art gallery, and one of London’s most fashionable venues.

We were married at the Foundling Museum and we could not have been more delighted with every aspect of the day
We were married at the Foundling Museum and we could not have been more delighted with every aspect of the day. The setting is simply beautiful “ and with flowers the romance of the Picture Gallery and the Court Room comes fully alive. We would unreservedly recommend the venue to anyone and were particularly pleased that our wedding could contribute to the charitable work of the Museum.

Stunning mix of art and architecture
‘The Foundling Museum was the perfect backdrop for our cocktail hour and reception. The stunning mix of art and architecture truly worked so well with our table decor, flowers and day in general. It is such a special venue that has provided us with memories that will last a lifetime. The added lifetime membership was a lovely post-event touch that we will cherish. A big thank you to the team at The Foundling for all their help in making our day great.’
