Matara is a Wedding venue in The Cotswold's that hosts tailored wedding celebrations that reflect the personal meaning of union for the couple. Set in the Cotswolds, on 28 acres, the venue boasts an Asian inspired Cloistered Courtyard, a banquet and dance hall, with a glass dome at it’s centre, alongside 5 ante rooms, and extensive gardens. With 6 licensed ceremony areas, 3 outdoor locations and 3 indoors, couples are offered an unparalleled opportunity to make their day truly unique. With on location accommodation available for up to 28 people, including the honeymoon lodge, the large Regency home, and converted haylofts, Matara welcomes the wedding party to stay a while and make a weekend or perhaps a week of the big day. Our menus are made up of seasonal dishes freshly prepared by our in-house Chef. He is also delighted to create a bespoke wedding breakfast, catering to the wildest of imaginations. Meanwhile our in-house wedding coordinators are on hand to help couples prepare and organize their day from the moment they book.

Rescheduled Wedding
We haven't had our wedding at Matara Centre yet, however we were booked for October 2020. With all the uncertainty surrounding weddings due to COVID-19 we rescheduled for October 2021. We were lucky to find a venue that was kind enough to let us reschedule far in advance, this has taken a load off our mind. It is quite rare to find a venue that is so accommodating and we are thankful to Holly and her team at Matara. We now look forward to our wedding in 2021 :)

Real Privilege
It was a real privilege to get married at Matara. Everything about our day there was perfect. The ground were glorious, the venue looked as beautiful as ever, Holly's level of organisation and coordination was invaluable (whilst managing to disappear into the background), and the vegan food was amazing served by lovely members of staff. We can't wait to come back and visit! It really was a magical day. Thank you, from The Hiltons.

Wonderful Wedding
Thank you all for an absolutely wonderful wedding! The venue was everything we'd hoped for and you all worked so hard to accommodate our vision and requests It was such so special to have the weekend in the house too, with the family -John's uncles hadn't been reunited in 10 years! Special mention to Luke, who not only made an incredible wedding breakfast & canapes (were still getting comments about the duck rolls!) but also made a delicious Friday dinner (best lasagne ever!) Your whole team on Saturday were great, and attention to detail - when removing the table decor, they re-arranged it for the night. All in all, Thank you for all the love and joy you put into Matara - we had the perfect day and will treasure the memories always.

Beautiful setting for our vows
We were married at Matara on the 16th November and had the most wonderful day - the colours of the Acers, the twinkling lights, the water trickling in the background made for the most beautiful setting for our vows. Abby our coordinator was there on hand to help all the way through . Our guests have said how wonderful the venue and say was Thank you for making our event so special

So much fun and no stress
The Matara Centre was the only venue that we viewed after searching for unique wedding venues online, we wanted somewhere a bit different and this venue was perfect for us and luckily only 20 minutes from where we live! It is so pretty and gives you the opportunity to get married outside all year round! We got married 8th November 2019 and it was the best day ever! We had so much fun, there was no stress, everything went perfectly thanks to the matara centre staff who were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole planning process and on the day itself! We also had a firework display which was a great suprise for our guests and perfect for a winter wedding. We also got a tree didicated to us which is a lovely gesture and we will be able to go back and visit our tree in the future and relive all the great memories! We would definitely recommend!!

A Great Success
We would like to thank Geoffrey and all of the Matara team for providing a brilliant venue for Mark and Maddie’s wedding on Saturday. Abbie was excellent before and on the day, finding first aid and keeping us all on track! The guests raved about the canapes, main meal and other food – so thanks to the chef The atrium was perfect (and dealt with the rain), the hilarium was beautifully decorated and a perfect setting for the enjoyment. The fireworks were splendid Overall a great success – thank you. There were a number of the guests who also loved the venue so maybe there will be more reasons than anniversaries to celebrate and see you all again. 5* for a 5* day!

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

The best weddings are always the ones that are a true expression of the couple. We encourage our couples to decorate all the spaces at Matara to their own tastes and have left the main reception room simple enough to accommodate all decors.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Concentrate on what marriage means to you as a couple and allow your day to unfold around that.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We have seen some amazing wedding favours. One couple, who got married this year, trolled their favourite charity shops for books with specific meaning for each guest enabling them to personalise the favours and give over £1,000.00 to their charity of choice. Another couple made a huge batch of the bride's grandad's damson gin recipe and bottled it in single shot bottle for all the guests. Love those touches.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Asian inspired; Regency influenced; gorgeous grounds; friendly, accommodating staff.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Hmmmm. That is a really hard choice. The cloistered courtyard is a definite unique backdrop found nowhere else.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Yes, and that is all we are at liberty to divulge ;)

What’s your favourite canapé?

The scotch egg. Chef has many configurations of this classic and we often find guests swarming the servers when the next round of scotch eggs come out.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

The Gloucestershire Old Spot Sausage in a bap with caramelized onions.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The Cloistered Coutryard

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Being able to offer each couple their wedding, their way.
