No.1 Abbey Row is a private events venue hosted in the historic Northern wing of The Old Bell Hotel. Situated in the market town of Malmesbury on the edge of the Cotswolds, No.1 Abbey Row will help you to plan and prepare your big day, giving you exclusive use of the North Wing to host your event for approximately 65 guests. We’re fully licensed for indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies, enabling you to host the whole day in one luxurious venue where our new Garden Room Venue will be the centre of your celebrations. No.1 Abbey Row also has a private terrace and walled garden which features our Outside Ceremony space where couples can marry under the Belvedere. Wedding Guests can also make the most of the well appointed Country House Hotel rooms just up the stairs when they retire at the end of the evening. We serve a feasting style menu, based on locally sourced fresh produce and our team of dedicated planners will help you bring to life a bespoke event to remember. (No.1 Abbey Row is easily reached from Cirencester, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, the Cotswolds and London, we’re just a few minutes drive from junction 17 of the M4.)

The day was magical!
From the start we have been treated to the very best service, nothing was too much trouble. All the small gestures from having the crusts cut from the flower girls ham sandwich to the last minute cream tea for the bridal party. To the larger issues of having unexpected accommodation requirements for several family members. These and many more items were dealt with grace and kindness. This resulted in providing us with one of the most memorable days of our lives. The day was magical. Thank you. I would like to thank all the staff but particularly Rob, the night chap, who was amazingly kind and professional, what a gem! We are so very grateful to you all!

What We Really Wished For
I just want to say thank you firstly to Sally who ensured everyone was fully committed to making sure we had the best day ever. From the start where she picked up the event half way through the planning she was always available at the end of the phone to give support and we were to able to ask for her advice. She had such great knowledge and understanding about the hotel and the team that everything was answered super quickly and professionally. Sally is also really good at events as she brings the warmth and excitement needed to make sure every detail is covered. Special shout out to Nick who really did a fantastic job of managing the event on the day. He kept us up to date throughout the day and asked our advice and when we were happy to do the first dance, when we should start the buffet etc. He definitely worked hard to make sure all the guests were enjoying themselves and that timings were running to schedule. A great job! The whole of the Old Bell really came together to make sure we had the best possible experience ever – the bar team, the lady who helped me carry my dress first thing in the morning (think it was Helen), everyone serving the canapés, the chef and team and Christophe, as well as everyone who helped clear the space. You really all did a remarkable job and I think you will have every success at making this venue great for parties, wedding and private events. Everyone commented on the food and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy the entire day which is what we really wished for.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't be afraid to ask. Every wedding is different, and while we have great packages to suit everyone, details can always be changed. Its YOUR special day and it has to be perfect for you.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Recently a guest made her own table plan to look like a tree. It was a beautiful framed display which she said took months to make. A real personal touch which fully matched her whole theme.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Beautiful. Cosy. Romantic. Charming. Great food.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Personally, I love the Belvedere. At a certain point in the day, the light hits it just right. Also in the summertime the front of the building is filled with bright purple wisteria and makes a gorgeous backdrop.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We couldn't possibly say as we know our guests value their privacy.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Our Master Chocolatier Pastry Chef makes the most AMAZING sweet canapés, his macaroons are gorgeous. Or for a savoury option the Garlic and Thyme Focaccia with Goats Cheese is to die for!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

We are the Oldest Hotel in England, with many character filled bedrooms to match!
